Whilst in Africa I was looking for a cornerstone on which
to base my dogs, he needed to be a dog with quality dogs within
his pedigree. For me, I believe not only the dogs themselves
need to be good individuals but they also need to be from
a line of quality dogs to increase the chances of producing
good offspring. I was very fortunate to come across Napoleon.
His sire, Piona Lugar, was the number one producing Boerboel
in the world, his dam was a blend of Piona and Grasland lines,
two of the most established and respected kennels in Africa.
Napoleon has excellent hips and he is also producing puppies
with excellent hips too. Napoleon himself is everything a
Boerboel should be; physically he is without peer, he has
the most bone of any dog (regardless of breed) that I have
ever seen. In addition, he has fluid movement which is a contradiction
for a dog as bulky and massive as he is. He is the only dog
that I have heard of to-date that can tear beds made from
thick conveyor belt rubber as if it were merely newspaper.
The only thing for me which is more impressive than his power
is his temperament. He is a very cool and reserved dog. Napoleon
watches situations and doesn't react without consideration.
His confidence is such that he doesn't need to bark or get
worked up or be hyper-active.
A good friend of mine is a 2 time World Champion dog trainer.
He has seen all types of breeds in many different countries,
and it was Napoleon that impressed him the most.
Napoleon has already proved himself as a sire as the number
3 bitch in the world for 2001, Voorslag Sharon (90+%) is by
him, and I am confident that many of his offspring will give
the top 50 list a big shake in the next few years.
